Trey Flowers’ Daughter Gets Emotional About Wanting Dad To Stay With Patriots

Trey Flowers inked a deal with the Detroit Lions, but his daughter wanted him to stay in New England.

Flowers’ daughter, Skylar, wasn’t really happy with her father’s massive contract with the Lions, and the star defensive end talked about this during his introductory press conference Thursday.

“I just kind of hinted it to her that, ‘What if Daddy is a Lion. You like lions?’ ” Flowers said. “Obviously, a 6-year-old, she’s like, ‘Nah, I want you to stay with the Patriots,’ all this. But then I told her, cause her favorite color’s blue, so I said, ‘They got blue. Blue’s your favorite color.’ She kind of said, ‘Ah, OK, I guess.’

“So it’s just things like that. Bring your family along, I think that’s very important for me is just kind of, when your family gets involved and I think she’s watched the games, she’s been to quite a few games. She probably didn’t pay attention as much, but I think she’s excited. She understands that we’re going to be able to buy a little bit more McDonalds.”

Right after agreeing to a deal with the Lions, Flowers shared a heartfelt message for the Patriots, and thanked the organization for everything they have done for him.

“For the memories, for the lessons, for the relationships, for the opportunity… I thank you,” he wrote.

Flowers’ daughter should be proud of her dad

Flowers was really happy with his development in 2018, but 2019 will be even better for him. That massive contract says it all.

“I get better each and every year, but for me it’s not all about the numbers,” Flowers said in one of his recent interviews. “It’s about how I affect the game as far as helping my team win. Anytime I can create plays to put my team in position to win, I’m all for that. It’s definitely coming together. It’s one of the things that we have to build ourselves on and it starts in practice. We go from the practice field and bring it to the game field with execution on Sundays. It’s just one of the deals that you have to play your top football at this point of the season going against some great teams. You’re going to have to be able to execute well on Sundays.”
