Eric Rowe Writes Touching Note To Patriots After Signing With Dolphins

Eric Rowe is making his way to South Florida. The cornerback signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins for $3.5 million.

This free agent decision came like a surprise for the Patriots nation, and Eric Rowe gave his reasons to make such move. Former de facto defensive coordinator for the Patriots Brian Flores will be coaching the Miami Dolphins. Former Patriots cornerbacks coach Josh Boyer is also in Miami, and these two had a huge role in the process.

“It was just a combination of [Brian] Flores and [former Patriots cornerbacks coach] Josh Boyer,” Rowe told Dolphins reporter John Congemi. “I mean, those are two great coaches I’ve worked with in the past three years of my career. I know what to expect from them, they know what to expect from me when it comes to defensive schemes. I would think nothing would change too greatly, so that learning curve is already shorter.

“I know how Flores, he’s going to have the team coached here. That’s something that I am already kind of used to, so all that combined it’s just a great situation.”

Following his contract with the Dolphins, Rowe took to Instagram to say goodbye to his former team.

“I can’t even explain how much I appreciate my time in NE,” Rowe wrote on Instagram and added a photo of him in a Patriots uniform. “From teaching me how to be a pro to being a better teammate. I have to thank my db boyz for showing me the ropes #thanksNE.”

Rowe was brilliant during his time with the New England Patriots when he was in a great condition. However, the Patriots won’t feel his absence as the cornerback unit is pretty solid. Stephon Gilmore, Jason McCourty, JC Jackson, Duke Dawson, Jonathan Jones and Keion Crossen are still here.
