Patriots Reportedly Interested In One Of The Top Wideouts Left On The Open Market

The New England Patriots are interested in signing one of the greatest wideouts on the market, and they will have to compete four other teams to get him.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that New England is among five teams interested in wide receiver Jordy Nelson.  He is a former Green Bay Packers and Oakland Raiders wide receiver. The Patriots are in need of wide receivers, and he will be a perfect addition.

Schefter said Nelson will visit the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday. The Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs are also interested in him. The Raider released Nelson last week, and they are also interested in having him back.

Nelson will turn 34 next season. In 2018, he had 63 catches for 739 yards with three touchdowns. He was a second-round draft pick for the Packers of the 2008 NFL Draft out of Kansas State. The wideout has 613 receptions for 8,587 yards with 72 touchdowns in 10 seasons. He missed the 2015 season due to an injury and had 1,000-yard seasons in 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2016. In 2017, he caught 53 passes for 482 yards and six touchdowns.

When it comes to the wide receiver unit, the Patriots should rely on Julian Edelman, Bruce Ellington, Maurice Harris, Braxton Berrios, Matthew Slater and Damoun Patterson. The team also placed a tender on restricted free agent wide receiver Josh Gordon.

The Patriots are into signing the best players on the market. Tight end Rob Gronkowski has yet to make a decision on his retirement, and his agent didn’t tell anything about it. But, the team is making plans that include Gronk.

2018 was brilliant for the Patriots, and they won the Super Bowl. They had ups and downs throughout the season, but we all learn from our mistakes, right? Let’s see what happens in 2019.
