Second-Year Receiver Currently In-Line For Big Role In 2019

2019 will be a great season for Braxton Berrios. The New England Patriots are looking for someone to fill in the slot receiving position. But, there is one particular problem.

New England is missing on various pass catchers. The team tried to sign Adam Humphries, but he agreed to a deal with the Tennessee Titans. They were all in for Cole Beasley before he signed with the Buffalo Bills, and Golden Tate was looking for something else. There is still a huge chance for a trade to happen. Braxton Berrios could be a nice addition as a slot receiver for the Patriots in 2019.

New England drafted Berrios in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Miami. He ended up on injured reserve during the roster cuts last year and missed his rookie season. In 2017, Berrios had 55 receptions for 670 yards and nine touchdowns. Last preseason, he caught one target for three yards.

“[He’s] an impressive kid,” Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio said of Berrios after the draft last season. “This guy’s really, really smart. He graduated in, I want to say three to three-and-a-half years, whatever it was. Played inside the formation at the University of Miami, really productive, really tough, good traits, smart, good quickness, was productive, had more opportunities here this season in Miami and he made the most of them.”

Berrios is also compared to Danny Amendola. Former NFL receiver Reggie Wayne made the big comparison.

“He’s going to surprise a lot of people,” he said on the NFL Network prior to the 2108 NFL Combine. “When I look at him on film and watch the way he runs routes and watched his heart and desire to play football, he reminds me of [former] New England Patriots’ Danny Amendola.”

Let’s see what happens next.
