New England Patriots Make Decision On Punter Ryan Allen

The New England Patriots made a few decisions for the upcoming season, and they had the final word for Ryan Allen.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Ryan Allen was re-signed to a deal. ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported that it’s actually a one-year deal, and we don’t have any more details about the contract.

There were so many rumors about the deal, and some said that it would never happen. It was revealed this weekend that Allen has just changed his agent, and that had great role in the new deal. He has a new agent now, and that opened the door for both sides.

Allen has played with the Patriots for his entire football career since the team landed him as an undrafted free agent out of Louisiana Tech in 2013. He won three Super Bowls with the Patriots, and had an excellent performance in Super Bowl LIII. Allen punted for 215 total yards and had three of his five punts inside the 20.

Last year, Allen averaged 45.1 yards per-punt and had 21 of his 64 boots land inside the 20 yard line.

The player was unsure if he’d go back to the Patriots, even after his brilliant performance in the Super Bowl.

“Business is business. There’s a lot of turnover each year. There’s a lot that goes into it,” Allen told The Herald in February. “I’m just grateful to have been able to play six of my years, especially my younger years, in such a first class organization to learn how to be a mature professional, how to train like one…do your job, that goes in all facets of life. I truly believe that.”

Allen signed a deal, and the team should now focus on Stephen Gostkowski. The kicker has yet to sign a deal. The New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks signed a kicker, and Gostkowski’s options are going down the hill.
