Colin Cowherd Makes Bold Statement On Doc Rivers-LeBron James Coaching Rumors

Colin Cowherd talked about LeBron James and Doc Rivers and the possibility that these two end up together.

If you ask Cowherd, he will say that Rivers doesn’t need LeBron. Moreover, he will add that LeBron doesn’t need Rivers either. Maybe having these two on the same team would be great and sounds good on paper, but Cowherd is convinced that they wouldn’t work together. LeBron has his own rings and power, and Doc has the same thing. So why would anyone put them together? Plus, Doc has already said that he isn’t going anywhere and he is happy with his current situation.

During Tuesday’s episode of Pardon The Interruption, Michael Wilbon said, “There are people in southern California right now in that environment telling Doc he doesn’t wanna do this. And one of those reasons is simply, LeBron James. He’s been told by people — and I know this — LeBron doesn’t want to be coached.

“He’s never been coached by someone with that kind of personality, command, authority, acumen, intellect. He’s rejected that. So Doc is being reminded of that by people.”

Rivers heard the rumors about his possible pairing with LeBron, and decided to talk about it. He reminded everyone that he has already accepted a contract extension with the Clippers owner Steve Ballmer. Maybe this should be enough for the rumors to stop. Rivers isn’t going anywhere, and that’s the only thing that matters at the moment.

“Let me end this,” Rivers said. “[Lakers president of basketball operations] Magic Johnson and I are very close friends but Steve Ballmer and I have a great relationship. I’m going nowhere. I’m going to be here for a long time.”

The Lakers will have to think of a solution and get out of this crisis. They will miss the playoffs, and they better play smart in the offseason.
