Joe Theismann Makes Bold Statement On The Difference Between Joe Montana And Tom Brady

It is Tom Brady’s year, and everyone has been engaged in the GOAT discussion. And now we have Super Bowl-winning quarterback Joe Theissmann talking about the difference between Brady and Joe Montana.

Tom Brady will have to leave the NFL at some point in his career, and fans have started taking sides. Some supported Aaron Rodgers, and others still swear on Joe Montana. What does Super Bowl-winning quarterback, Joe Theismann think about that?

“He is the greatest who ever played the game. Joe Montana is definitely in that conversation. But the thing that I look at with Tom is Joe had a fairly consistent group around him when they won those championships. That football team pretty much stayed intact for quite a while. Tom has had so many different receivers, so many different line combinations, so many different running backs,” Theismann said.

Joe Montana has four Super Bowl wins  in eight years apart. His first win was in 1981 and his last victory took place in the 1989 campaign. Things were really different back then. The greatest change the 49ers did during his career was his replacement. Montana was part of a long quarterback controversy with Steve Young, and he actually claimed the job. We also spotted a few roster moves during his tenure with the team. However, nothing beats the fact that he won his championships with the same squad, a dynasty based on Ronnie Lott, Roger Craig, Dwight Clark, and Jerry Rice.

The New England Patriots won three championships in 2002, 2004 and 2005, and then won another couple of championships in 2015, 2017 and 2019. Vince Wilfork was the only player alongside Brady to win championships in both spans. Wilfork was a rookie in 2004, and left the team after the 2015 win. Logan Mankins is closer to that, and he was actually miscalculated.
