Luke Walton Releases Bold Statement On LeBron James After Knicks Defeat

The Los Angeles Lakers lost the game to the New York Knicks, and the final quarter was terrible. Head coach Luke Walton rested LeBron James for the game on Friday. He came back for the game at Madison Square Garden. The biggest moment of the game was Mario Hezonja’s block on LeBron in the last couple of seconds.

Luke Walton said LeBron shouldn’t be blamed for the loss.

“He’s one of the all-time great players in our league,” said Walton. “He understands time and score and everything else.

“So, he’s earned that right to take the shots he feels comfortable with. As opposed to some younger guys, you draw things up and tell them what to look for and tell them where to go at what time.

“He’s earned the right to feel that out and take the shots he feels like are going to be good for him.”

The Lakers will look for a chance to sign an All-Star player this summer. Their season is terrible, but LeBron said it doesn’t affect their possibility to land a big name.

“I don’t think it changes,” LeBron said when asked if the current condition of the team affects their chances to sign a big player this summer. “I think everybody knew that coming into this year it was still going to be challenging no matter if we were all healthy and we played all 82 games. I think, obviously, myself being out five weeks, Rondo being out five weeks, B.I. being out for the remainder of the season, early suspensions, Zo being out for the remainder of the season, Kuz being out, JaVale had pneumonia at one point and it’s taken a toll on our team. We’re a team that was built on depth and when you continue to have injuries and things of that nature, your depth is not what you’d like it to be, obviously, and it’s hard on our ball club. We have an opportunity to get better this summer through free agency and also through the draft and I believe our front office and our coaching staff will make that happen.”
