New England Patriots’ Case For Re-Signing Josh Gordon

If the NFL decides to give Josh Gordon a chance to return to the field, he should definitely sign a contract with the New England Patriots.

Josh Gordon left the Patriots in late December and missed out the big win in Atlanta. The 27-year-old player was also suspended by the NFL after violating the league’s PEDs policy. Gordon missed the chance to become a champion, and the Patriots were really hoping to have him around.

The Cleveland Browns gave up on Gordon early in the season, and the Patriots used his talent in the best way possible. Gordon was brilliant in New England and was a nice fit for Tom Brady. He played 11 games and had 720 yards and a big chance for 1,000-yard season if he stayed for the last two games.

Gordon gave Brady enough power on the floor. The quarterback played with an excellent group: Gordon, Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski and James White. Opponents’ defense could not even come near them.

If the NFL gives Gordon another chance, New England has his rights as he will enter the season as restricted free agent. Getting Gordon back will give the Patriots enough depth at receiver unit. Reinstating Gordon makes New England favorite destination for the receiver. He earned the trust of his teammates and Bill Belichick. They had nice words for him, and he was definitely a good fit in New England.

He was a great teammate,” McCourty said. “He worked his butt off while he was here. So I think for us as players, we wish him the best personally. … I think, as people, you feel for that. I mean, if you don’t, I guess you don’t, but I think as guys in this locker room, we care more about him and him getting well and all of those things more than him catching passes. Play football. Just keep playing. I think we realize the task we have at hand Sunday — a game that we feel is a must-win. We’ve got to come out here, play well at home and get a win coming off back-to-back losses.”
