NFL Announces When Patriots Will Begin 2019 Season

The NFL goes outside the regular schedule as they celebrate the 100th season in 2019. Super Bowl winners usually kickoff the regular season as they drop the banner in their building, but the 2019 season will be a bit different.

How will the 2019 season start? The Green Bay Packers will visit the Chicago Bears on September 5 at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC. In other words, the Patriots won’t host the Thursday night Football opener. The NFL announced the changes, and the New England Patriots will have their Sunday Night Football where they will celebrate their big win on September 8, drop the banner and begin their title defense. The opponent for the game isn’t announced yet.

The full schedule of the season will be released in mid-April.

The Patriots may play against the Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants and the Kansas City Chiefs along with their AFC East rival on the schedule to go at Gillette Stadium in 2019.

An AFC Championship rematch with the Kansas City Chiefs would be the right scenario for New England, but the NFl may play smart with this game and decide to save the game for later in the season. These two may meet again in the playoffs this year. The Steelers and Cowboys will create their own magic later on in the season without the flaws of the Sunday Night Football Opener which leaves the Browns, Giants and the rest of the AFC East.

The Cleveland Browns’ visit of Foxboro will sure attract everyone’s attention. Eli Manning and the Giants would also make a show, but the Browns fit well in Week 1.

There will be a lot of celebration that night, but the Patriots nation will remember this as the first game without Rob Gronkowski as he decided to retire.
