Report: Los Angeles Lakers Considering Tyronn Lue As Next Coach

The Los Angeles Lakers are already looking for a head coach as Luke Walton will have to leave the team after the poor season. Initial reports suggested that Jason Kidd may be making his way to LA, but it seems like the Lakers aren’t interested in adding him to the family. What about Tyronn Lue?

According to Stephen A. Smith, “They believe that Ty Lue warrants strong consideration.

Lue was really successful with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and won 61% of the regular season games and 67% of his playoff game. But LeBron James changed everything. He helped the team win the championship. LeBron is always followed by big media attention, and Lue understands that.

The Cavaliers fired Lue after the poor start.

“This was a very difficult decision,” Cavaliers General Manager Koby Altman said in a statement. “We have respect and great admiration for Ty, not only as a coach, but a person. We thank him for the many ways he has contributed to our success, wish him the best and he will always be remembered for leading a very special Cavs team back against the odds to win the title in 2016.”

“My time here in Cleveland was truly special,” Lue said after being fired. “I am very grateful for the dedication, sacrifice, and support of all the players on our team, the tremendous coaches I worked with and of course, our incredible fans. Lastly, deep thanks to owner Dan Gilbert, former general manager David Griffin and general manager Koby Altman for the opportunity over the last three years and I only wish the organization success moving forward.

When LeBron decided to leave the Cavaliers, Lue tried to turn things to the positive side.

“It’s not about wins and losses, it’s about wins and lessons,” he tweeted. “Well, that’s actually true. Mistakes are our best lessons, and we can become much better if we accept our failures and get the best out of them.”

But, he respects LeBron and everything he did for the team. He likes his style, and always talked about it.

“Everybody he’s been around he’s made better and you can’t replace that,” Lue said. “So we’ve got to understand that and continue to keep growing and working collectively and be the best we can be. It’s hard to replace LeBron James. Don’t say we’re going to replace LeBron. He’s an irreplaceable player. It’s not replacing LeBron James, the best player in the game for so long and he’s meant so much to the franchise and every franchise he’s played for.”
