Report: Patriots Expected To Bring Back Ex-Pats Running Back

The New England Patriots have changed their roster, and this time they are bringing back a familiar face. Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network confirmed that the Patriots will add another running back.

Rapoport reported that New England will sign running back Brandon Bolden to a two-year contract.

Bolde played six seasons in New England before signing a deal with the Miami Dolphins last season. After this adventure, Bolden will come back to Foxboro and give New England more depth at running back position. He will also be a core special teams player.

“After a one-season hiatus, Brandon Bolden is returning to the #Patriots on a 2-year deal, source said. The core special teamer and RB spent last season with the #Dolphins,” Rapoport tweeted.

Before to his release last summer, the running back was with the Patriots since inking a deal as an undrafted free agent with the team in 2012 out of Ole Miss. During his collegiate career, Bolden was a versatile back for the Rebels. He rushed for 2,594 yards over four years had had 76 receptions, 807 yards and 33 total touchdowns. During his tenure with the Patriots, Bolden had two Super Bowl rings and rushed for 912 yards, logging 47 receptions for 373 yards and eighth touchdowns. The player also had 27 total tackles.

Bolden’s time in Foxboro was brought to an end during the final roster trimmings last summer. Bolden didn’t need much time to find a new home in Miami. Former Patriots receiver Danny Amendola recruited Bolden to South Beach upon the release from Foxboro.

During his year in Miami, Bolden rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns in limited action with three catches for 13 yards and a touchdown. The player totaled six tackles on special teams. His best game as a Dolphins player was actually the one he played against the Patriots. In Week 14, Bolden’s former teammates allowed him to rush for 60 yards and two touchdowns.
