Robert Kraft’s Lawyers Releases Statement Right After Initial Court Order

The court ordered Robert Kraft to appear for his arraignment, but the lawyer has other interpretion of this court order.

“This is a routine procedural hearing that the Court sets based on its schedule. The notice of appearance by the defendant is boilerplate, but in fact the lawyer appears for the defendant in a misdemeanor case. The defendant does not appear,” Kraft attorney Jack Goldberger said in a statement.

“In capital letters, the document says, ‘THE DEFENDANT MUST BE PRESENT AT THIS HEARING.’ The document adds that a failure to appear will result in a ‘bond forfeiture, or revocation of own recognizance (O.R.) and a Capias/Warrant being issued for your arrest.’”

ESPN’s Michele Steele reported, “FWIW, Kraft’s lawyers could still file a pleading specifically requesting the Judge’s permission to allow Kraft *not* to have to appear at the arraignment. Judge’s discretion.”

Her update was the first hint.

“FWIW, Kraft’s lawyers could still file a pleading specifically requesting the Judge’s permission to allow Kraft *not* to have to appear at the arraignment. Judge’s discretion.”

Kraft’s hearing will take place at 9 a.m. March 28 before Judge Frank S. Castor in the Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Castor is a former state prosecutor in the state.

The Patriots owner was accused in a February 22 Jupiter Police Department report of being caught on surveillance camera receiving and paying for sexual service at the Orchids of Asia Day Spa in Jupiter, Fla., the morning of the same day his team defeated the Kansas City Chiefs.

The day spa had been under investigation for suspected criminal activity, such as human trafficking.

The video showed Kraft hug a 45-year-old worker, and he handed her a $100 bill “plus at least one other unidentifiable bill,” the official report read.
