The Court Releases Bold Update On Robert Kraft’s Prostitution Case

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is involved in a prostitution scandal that shocked Florida. The court has made a decision on his presence.

Initial reports suggested that Kraft won’t have to appear in court, but there’s an update on this information. According to authorities, Kraft will be required to appear in the Palm Beach County courthouse later this month for his arraignment on two counts of soliciting another person to commit prostitution.

“In capital letters, the document says, ‘THE DEFENDANT MUST BE PRESENT AT THIS HEARING.’ The document adds that a failure to appear will result in a ‘bond forfeiture, or revocation of own recognizance (O.R.) and a Capias/Warrant being issued for your arrest.’”

ESPN’s Michele Steele reported that Kraft’s lawyers can petition the judge to waive the requirement.

NEW: Robert Kraft arraignment set for 9 am on March 28 in Palm Beach county. Court filing includes the directive that the defendant ‘must be’ present at this hearing.”

Here’s the update:

“FWIW, Kraft’s lawyers could still file a pleading specifically requesting the Judge’s permission to allow Kraft *not* to have to appear at the arraignment. Judge’s discretion.”

The Patriots owner pled not guilty to his charges. Kraft will have his arraignment on March 28, right after the NFL owners meetings conclude in Phoenix.

It’s interesting to note that Kraft may not be the biggest “fish” involved in the scandal. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that there is a bigger name involved into the investigation, but didn’t reveal it.

“Again, I don’t have the name,” Schefter said on the “Pardon My Take” podcast. “I don’t have the name. Because I was not given the name. And, again, maybe I should have framed it a little differently ’cause the story took on a life of its own. And I should have said, ‘There are people down there telling me …’ Now, there are people who tell you things. They sometimes come to be and sometimes don’t.”
