Patriots Bring In Another Top Wide Receiver For Pre-Draft Visit

The New England Patriots are having a little visit in the world of college football in order to get themselves a few new players. The team is looking for a wide receiver to fortify the unit.

Is N’Keal Harry their right choice?

The wide receiver will go to Foxboro for a pre-draft visit with the Patriots, as reported by Mike Garofolo of the NFL Network. Harry has six visits in his schedule.

Harry is 6-foot-2, 228 pounds and was great at the NFL Combine as he ran a 4.53 40-yard dash, put up 27 reps on the bench press, had a 38.5 inch vertical jump and a 122 inch broad jump. He was also brilliant during his sophomore and junior seasons where he had back-to-back 1,000-plus yard campaigns. In his sophomore year, Harry caught 82 passes for 1,142 yards and eight touchdowns. He had 73 receptions for 1,088 yards and nine touchdowns last year. In his collegiate year, the wide receiver did a little damage on the ground as he was able to rush for 144 yards and three touchdowns in three seasons.

Harry is even compared to Allen Robinson.

“Back-shoulder boss who thrives with contested catch opportunities outside the numbers but lacks explosive traits,” NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein said of Harry. “Harry’s ability to body-up opponents and win with ball skills is undeniable, but his inability to find a threatening top gear or shake loose from tight man coverage must be accounted for within his new employer’s scheme. His experience playing inside should help and teams will love his impact as a run-blocker. His competitiveness and ability to come down with the ball could make him a productive member of wide receiver trio in short order.”

The Patriots will probably overlook the lack of explosiveness, aiming their focus on his ability to attack the ball while making a reception. Harry was also praised by former NFL receiver analyst Nate Burleson.

“All these things being said about these wide receivers and it not being a ‘wide receiver draft,’ keep your eye on this guy,” Burleson said on GMFB. “Harry is a monster and he will be in the league.”
