Report: Patriots Host Former Broncos Veteran Wide Receiver On Visit

The New England Patriots are observing some of the best prospects in the league. The team will sure try to add some new players to the roster in order to add depth to the offense. Rob Gronkowki decided to retire, and the team had to think of a backup plan. It seems like this plan is working as the Patriots hosted former Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas and former Jaguars running back T.J. Yeldon. Both players visited the Patriots on Wednesday.

Field Yates was the first to report their visit. He wrote, “The Patriots had longtime Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas and former Jaguars RB T.J. Yeldon in for a free agent visit today, per source. They continue to look for more offensive weapons.”

This isn’t the first time Demaryius Thomas is linked with the Patriots. They have already tried to trade for him at the NFL Trade Deadline last year. The Pats would sign Thomas to a cheap deal as he still recovers from a torn Achilles. When it comes to his recovery, James Palmer of the NFL Network reported that the receiver will hit the field sooner than everyone expects.

Jeff Howe reported about the Patriots’ efforts to trade for Thomas.

“Prior to the trade deadline, the Patriots attempted to acquire Demaryius Thomas and denied an inquiry for Phillip Dorsett. Even with Josh Gordon playing well, the Pats recognized the possibility that Gordon wouldn’t last the season,” Howe reported.

Thomas is still considered a huge threat in the passing game. During his time with the Broncos and Texans last year, he had 59 receptions for 677 yards and five touchdowns. in 2017, Thomas had 83 receptions for 949 yards and five scores.

Adding Thomas looks like the Patriots. They will get a talented player for cheap money. Quarterback Tom Brady will sure use his help on the field, and the same applies to the offensive line of the Patriots.

Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels drafted Thomas when he was head coach in Denver. So, yes, we can already see the connection between the wide receiver and the New England Patriots. Should we say welcome?
