Report: LeBron James Nominated For Major NBA Award

LeBron James has more awards than any other player in the NBA. He has four MVPs, 15 All-Star appearances, 14 All-NBA selections, three championships. Yes, there’s still enough room for another NBA award.

Tania Ganguli of The Los Angeles Rams reported that LeBron is nominated for the season-long NBA Cares Community Assist Award.

“Every month, the NBA chooses one player from across the league for the NBA Community Assist Award presented by Kaiser Permanente. The award honors the NBA player who best reflects the passion that the league and its players have for giving back to their communities. This player is recognized for his outstanding efforts in the community and for his ongoing philanthropic and charitable work!”

The yearly award is a new phenomenon. It has been given out in the past four years. Russell Westbrook, John Wall, Isaiah Thomas and Kevin Durant are the winners. LeBron will compete with Jarrett Allen, Bradley Beal, Mike Conley, Tobias Harris, Damian Lillard, Khris Middleton, Donovan Mitchell, Dwight Powell and Pascal Siakam. The decision will be brought by fans and an NBA panel.

We have all the respect in this world for other nominies and their contributions to the communities. But, we all know that LeBron deserves this award. The man opened a school in his hometown Akron, Ohio. The I Promise School was funded for at-risk youth and the kids have already gainins success. Erica L. Green of The New York Times wrote that, “Ninety percent met or exceeded individual growth goals in reading and math, outpacing their peers across the district,” adding that the school provides services to both students and parents.

The students had extended after-school activities, free bikes and helmets, and a STEM-based curriculim. They are also assured free tuition to The University of Akron upon graduation. Their parents have access to GED and job-placement services. There’s also a barbershop available for them. The school exceeded even the greatest expectations. LeBron supplied the funding through his foundation and his name and influence.

There are so many students who deserve this award, but it belongs to LeBron. His accomplishment is more than brilliant.
