New England Patriots Agree To Deal With Demaryius Thomas

The New England Patriots are getting ready for the upcoming season, and have signed a bunch of new players. Adding fresh power to the existing roster will be of great help for the team. Demaryius Thomas is the latest player to join the Patriots, and he will sure have great time catching passes from quarterback Tom Brady.

New England announced they have agreed to a deal with the veteran pass catcher. The team hosted Thomas about a week ago, and it seems like they like his game. It was more than enough for the team to sign a deal with him. Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the Patriots have signed Thomas to a one-year deal.

“The #Patriots are giving former #Broncos and #Texans WR Demaryius Thomas a 1-year deal worth up $6M, source said. They discussed trading for him last year, signed him this year.”

This isn’t the first contact Thomas had with the Patriots. The team has already tried to land him prior to the NFL Trade Deadline last year. It didn’t work. Well, it’s more than obvious that the Patriots are interested in Thomas’ services.

“Prior to the trade deadline, the Patriots attempted to acquire Demaryius Thomas and denied an inquiry for Phillip Dorsett,” Jeff Howe reported in December. “Even with Josh Gordon playing well, the Pats recognized the possibility that Gordon wouldn’t last the season.”

Thomas is a nice addition after the retirement of Rob Gronkowski. Cordarrelle Patterson and Chris Hogan also left the team. Let’s not forget that the Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels drafted Thomas when he was coaching the Denver Broncos.

Thomas had his best career with the Denver Broncos. He was traded to the Houston Texans last season. During his time with the teams, Thomas had 59 receptions for 677 yards and five touchdowns. In 2017, he had 83 receptions for 949 yards and five touchdowns. For his professional career, Thomas has 688 receptions in the regular season and 9,330 yards and 62 touchdowns. In the playoffs, he had 53 receptions for 759 yards and three touchdowns. So, yes, the Patriots will sure need his talent.
