Patriots and Michael Bennett Reportedly Have Agreed to Restructured Contract
The Patriots acquired Michael Bennett from the Eagles as part of the 2020 fifth-round draft pick.
His contract with Philly was set to earn him $7.2 million in 2019 and $8 million in 2020. Now, according to ESPN’s Field Yates, Bennett and New England have agreed to terms on a reformed, two-year contract.
The three-time Pro Bowler will get a base value of almost $17 million, including a $4 million signing bonus.
Sources: the Patriots and DE Michael Bennett have agreed to a reworked two-year deal with a base value of $16.75M, including a $4M signing bonus. Bennett gets guaranteed money and more upside, while the move creates $700K in cap space for the team in 2019.

Before the trade, Bennett said that he wouldn’t agree on a pay cut. However, considering the sum he would get, we’re safe to assume he’s happy with the result.
All things considered, Bennett stood his ground and got what he felt he deserved, despite the fact that he’s one of the oldest players (33) at his position.
The morning before the #Patriots traded for him, Michael Bennett said on NFL Network that he wanted a new deal. He’s getting one in New England. https://t.co/peybsWVqlh
