Report: Lakers Have Found Magic Johnson’s Replacement

The Los Angeles Lakers will have to find a replacement for Magic Johnson as he resignated from his position in the front office. But, the team isn’t openly looking for a replacement for Johnson. If you take a closer look at the team, you will notice that Rob Pelinka is in charge now. He is working as president of basketball operations, and will probably hire the team’s new coach and lead the free agency recruitment. Pelinka will assemble the roster that hits the floor on opening night. You may not want this to happen, but everyone seems to have accepted the case.

Some of the latest rumors sort of bring hope. The Lakers may not look for a top executive because they already have one. Colin Cowherd talked about this on his Fox 1 Show The Herd. He made a claim that the team have a replacement for Magic in place, and that “they are communicating with him and he is OKing all these moves. He is not currently in the Laker building. He’s currently running another team that’s in the playoffs. It could be a handful of people. It could be a Michael Winger with the Los Angeles Clippers, Bob Myers with Golden State, young smart guy inToronto. There’s a couple other guys out there.”

Well, let’s not forget that Cowherd isn’t a reporter, and many say that Pelinka is in charge of the operations within the team. LA times reporter Arash Markazi went on Cowherd’s show and said that there’s a specific structure taking place. According to him, Pelinka won’t be elevated to that position in the front office, adding that the person who will do the job is actually “working for a playoff team” at the moment.

If the team has a president lined up, they are doing an excellent job keeping his identity a mystery. The team seems to have reached an agreement with a person that’s employed by another team. Are the Lakers communicating illegally with this person? There are so many questions we’d like to answer, but let’s just way until we see what happens next.
