Report: LeBron Supports Lakers Brass As GM Rob Pelinka Will Remain In Power

The Los Angeles Lakers are still coping with the fact that Magic Johnson resigned from his position in the front office. There are so many unanswered questions regarding the team, and fans can’t wait to have them all answered.

The most recent report came from sources close to the team. According to this report, Rob Pelinka will stay on his position as general manager. Moreover, it also suggests that Lakers star LeBron James supports pretty much every decision owner Jeanie Buss brings. The same applies to the Lakers management.

In other words, Rob Pelinka is safe at the moment. ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported that Pelinka will stay on the board, and may also be given greater power.

Pelinka was Kobe Bryant’s agent at the time. He encouraged Buss to hire Magic Johnson as president of basketball operation a couple of years ago.

When asked about Rob Pelinka, Johnson didn’t say much about Johnson, and that got reporters talking. “That’s a decision Jeanie has to make. She has to make all the calls,” Johnson said.

Regardless of Johnson’s comments, Buss has made a decision and it includes Rob Pelinka.

Shelburne’s report is also focused on LeBron James. The star avoid questions related to Pelinka, Johnson and the front office. “James stands behind Lakers owner Jeanie Buss and the organization,” Shelburne’s report reads.

We find it strange how LeBron remained mum on Johnson’s resignation. Well, one thing stands for sure, LeBron supports his current team, and he will have to play three more seasons in Los Angeles.

Other players talked about the resignation, and they all respect Johnson.

“I know, moving forward, Magic will probably be around still, because he’s a part of this franchise,” Lakers center Tyson Chandler said Wednesday. “It will always be just the Kobes, the Shaqs, the Jerry Wests … go on down the list of all these great ones. I still have confidence that this organization is heading in the right direction and will be heading in the right direction, because they have all the pieces to do so. It is just about who is going to be driving [the] ship, I guess, at this point.”
