Report: Patriots Player Put Super Bowl XLI Ring Up For Auction

Rings and diamonds never lose value, but we have one particular Patriots player who isn’t really into owning championship rings. The New England Patriots have the most Super Bowl appearances in the league, and they are tied for the most titles with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Pats won three Lombardi Trophies in the last five seasons, and someone got bored. One Patriot isn’t really thrilled by the bling, and decided to sell the Super Bowl LI ring online.

The price is expected to jump really high, but it would definitely be higher if the Patriots didn’t contend for a trophy every season. So, who put this ring up to an auction? Is it Rob Gronkowski? A great number of players left the team after Super Bowl LI, including Malcolm Mitchell, Michael Floyd, Danny Amendola, Martellus Bennett, Dion Lewis, LeGarrette Blount, DJ Foster, Jimmy Garoppolo, Jacoby Brissett, Nate Solder, and Malcolm Butler.

“It’s ostentatious enough to make a rapper blush, heavy enough to send a strong swimmer to the bottom of the lake,” Heritage notes in the auction listing. “The word ‘massive’ doesn’t even begin to describe this eye-catching stunner, but, to be fair, five Lombardi Trophies take up a decent amount of space. We find those symbols of NFL dominance completely ‘iced-out’ in shimmering diamonds on the face of this dinner plate-sized symbol of American football’s highest achievement, sandwiched between the words ‘World Champions’ that supply the showpiece with a facial diameter of approximately an inch and a half (1.5″). There are 283 diamonds, representing the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history, from a 28-3 deficit.

“The ring was issued to a player from that fifth edition of the sport’s greatest modern dynasty, but he has demanded anonymity, so we will black out his identifiers, assuring all bidders that the man’s surname and diamond-studded jersey number do indeed appear on the left shank. Right shank features the logo and final score of the Big Game, along with the Pats’ ‘17-2’ playoff-inclusive record for 2016.

Interior band is engraved with Bob Kraft’s, ‘We Are All Patriots’ slogan and facsimile signature, the words, ‘Greatest Comeback Ever,’ and ‘Jostens 10K’ stamping. Size fourteen and a half (14.5). Ring is showcased in lighted wooden display box which is itself housed in a slightly larger hinged lucite box, the latter engraved with the recipient’s name. Unquestionably the most luxurious Championship presentation in Super Bowl history. Pristine condition.”
