Report: Patriots Show Significant Interest In Ole Miss Tackle

The New England Patriots are always interested in the best players, and this time they have shown interest in an Ole Miss tackle.

According to Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle, the Greg Little has “drawn significant interest” from New England.

“Mississippi tackle Greg Little worked out privately for the Giants at right tackle at his Pro Day, also had workouts with Texans, Titans, Vikings and Panthers. Little has also drawn significant interest from the Dolphins and Patriots.”

Trent Brown signed a contract with the Raiders, and Isaiah Wynn will take over his spot. Wynn missed his rookie season due to his torn ACL, and he will enter 2019 in great shape. Starting right tackle Marcus Cannon will be 31 next season, and the Patriots lost swing tackle LaAdrian Waddle to the Bills. So, the team is really think at tackle positions. In other words, it sure makes sense that they have shown interested in a brilliant tackle.

Little played most of his games at Ole Miss as left tackle. He struggles as run blocker. At the NFL Combine, Little’s measures were 6-foot-5, 310 pounds. He ran a 5.33 second 40-yard dash, recorded a 25 inch vertical, a 113 inch broad jump and ran a 4.74 20-yard shuttle.

According to NFL.com, he’s pretty similar to Duane Brown.”Little possesses the important combination of size, length and quickness as a prototypical left tackle prospect,” writes NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein. “While he wasn’t asked to do it much in 2018, he has the athletic ability to handle zone-blocking duties, which could suit his skill-set more than a physical rush attack. Little is a natural bender with good feet and pepper in his punch as blind-side protector, but his average anchor and inconsistent body control create some concern. He will be an early starter at left tackle, but needs to improve his strength and eliminate his tendency to lean in order to reach the potential his physical and athletic traits offer.”

The Patriots have the No. 32 overall selection in the first round and two second-rounders. This is really helpful in terms of getting Little, especially if they need a younger player.
