Tom Brady Outlasts Draft Class As Longtime NFL Kicker Retires

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady sure likes his game, and now he is the only person to outlast his draft class. Longtime NFL kicker Sebastian Janikowski announced his decision to retire Sunday. This makes Brady the last member of the 2000 NFL Draft class.

Well, it’s not like we are surprised. TB12 is the oldest non-kicker in the league at the moment, and he sure plays his best football. Brady still plays at high level, and he doesn’t even think of retiring at this point of his career. He was the 199th pick in his class. Remember how Janikowski was the 17th overall pick?

Janikowski and Shane Lechler were the only players in Brady’s class to play beyond the 2014 season. believe it or not, only 11 of the 254 players played beyond the 2012 season.

Check this out: Brady may outlast every player of the 2001 draft, as New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is the only player of that class. Current free agent, quarterback Josh McCown is the only player from the 2002 draft still remaining. Brady will probably outlast them, too. Arizona Cardinals linebacker Terrell Suggs is the only player from the 2003 draft, and Brady may also go for that one.

Brady doesn’t even think of retiring. He is ready to move on, and his game is sharper than ever.

“I just love it and I love playing. Like I said, many of those things are still the same. I loved playing then, I still love playing now. I don’t take anything for granted, I really don’t. I enjoy it. I think we all work hard at it but to get to this point is really exceptional. I’m proud of the guys for making the commitment and it’s certainly not easy. I think everyone at this point is tired and worn down but at the same time, you have one of the great opportunities in your life. This is a memory you’ll have forever and I really hope we can go out and take advantage of it. The Rams have worked equally as hard. They’ve got a great team. They do well in all phases just like all the teams we’ve played in this game. It’s a very difficult game to win. I’m excited for it. I’m going to try to get as much rest as I can and try to go out and play our best game of the year when we need it the most.”
