Watch: LeBron Shares Kids’ Heartwarming Reactions For Being Part Of ‘I Promise’ School

LeBron James opened a school in his hometown Akron, Ohio, with the only purpose to give at-risk kids education. It was a tough process, but the kids made him proud. The students of his I Promise school showed great results this year, and LeBron couldn’t hide his excitement.

The king of basketball took to Instagram to deliver a very special message for the kids and everyone involved.

“PROUD ‼‼‼ is an understatement,” LeBron wrote on Instagram. “I honestly could not wait to share this news when I heard it. Kids you are smart, amazing, talented, and nothing short of INSPIRATIONAL! 9-5 every. day. Teachers & all the staff ❤❤ ya’ll are the right ones, the real ones on this journey changing lives & numbers don’t lie. we’re only going to keep getting better. Let’s keep GROWING and changing the game.”

In one of his recent interviews, LeBron said the kids did an amazing job in their first year at school. He helped them a lot, and the kids said ‘thank you’ in the most brilliant way ever.

“These kids are doing an unbelievable job, better than we all expected,” LeBron said. “When we first started, people knew I was opening a school for kids. Now people are going to really understand the lack of education they had before they came to our school. People are going to finally understand what goes on behind our doors.”

Opening a school is like a dream come true for LeBron. He knew that those kids need someone to stand next to them and give them a hand in life.

”As a kid from Akron Ohio myself I remember walking these same streets I remember walking North Street… riding my bike throughout the rest of the city,” LeBron said.

“Kids just want to know that you care. Once they know that you care, then they will tap into their gift. That’s what I’m just trying to do. Let the kids know that we care, that I care. Then we’ll let them fly away. I walked the same streets as those kids. I had the same dreams. The same nightmares. The same upbringing as those kids, so I know everything that they’re going through.”
