Watch: N’Keal Harry’s Emotional Reaction To Being Drafted By Patriots

The New England Patriots use their 32nd selection to pick N’Keal Harry.

Harry sort of lost hope that he would be drafted by a team, and laid his hopes for the second round. Well, the final selection of the first round was reserved for him, and the Patriots called him. The champions called up the Arizona State receiver to confirm their decision to add him to their offense.

“It was so surreal, especially for me, waiting that long and getting to the end of the first round,” Harry said. “I was honestly starting to think maybe I had to start getting ready for Day 2. So, when I got that call, I tried not to be emotional, but I couldn’t really hold it back at that point. I just felt so blessed, I was so thankful for the Patriots organization. I was just thanking God and I’m just ready to get to work.”

The Patriots posted the video of the moment Harry was officially selected and welcomed by the team. Harry was watching the NFL Draft with his friends and family. Having Patriots head coach Bill Belichick on the phone is the greatest honor of them all. I mean, Belichick literally called Harry to join his team.

The Patriots had their attention on Harry throughout the pre-draft process. The 6-foot-2, 228 pounder visited the team and impressed Belichick right upon his arrival. He knows how to pick up plays they put in front of him.

“We had some other interactions with him, but he came in and presented himself as a pretty mature kid, seems like a pretty smart kid,” Patriots Director of Player Personnel Nick Caserio said of Thursday night of Harry.

Harry had a nice foundation throughout his collegiate career. Harry had a strong resulr of back-to-back one thousand yard seasons at Arizona State and a 58-catch, 659 receiving yard freshman campaign. In his final season for the Sun Devils, he caught 73 passes for 1,088 yards and nine touchdowns.

“I’m extremely excited,” Harry said of joining the Patriots. “I’m just ecstatic to come in, work hard, constantly improve and just live up to the expectations.”
