Watch: This Tom Brady Interview From After 2000 Draft Is Crazy To Listen To 19 Years Later

The National Football League couldn’t even imagine the greatness in Tom Brady when the New England Patriots drafted him in the 2000 NFL Draft. The Patriots picked him up in the sixth round with the 199th overall pick. Who knew that Brady would turn out to be this special?

Brady first entered the league 19 years ago. The Patriots honored his draft anniversary with an audio from Brady’s post-draft conference call with the New England media. It’s super hilarious and amazing, and we get to listen to the interview Brady had two decades ago. Believe it or not, Brady said pretty much the same things he’d say today. He is the GOAT, and this interview proves it.

Media members were interested in Brady’s opinion about the fact that he was drafted in the sixth round. He wasn’t disappointed at all.

“I don’t think disappointed is the word,” TB12 said. “I thing the team that has drafted me I’m just very comfortable with and whether it would be in the second round or the sixth round I think everyone starts on the same level. It’s a great opportunity to head back to New England, and play for the Patriots. It’s certainly been a dream come true.”

When asked about the existing quarterback in the team, Tom had a pretty clean answer. Reporters asked, “Tom, you’re coming into a system where they have a quarterback everybody knows. What’s your feeling about backing up Drew Bledsoe?”

He responded, “You know, Drew Bledsoe is certainly one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. It’s going to be great to learn under him and compete for a job with the Patriots. Certainly this is a great step for me. It’s going to be a great challenge but I think I’m ready for it. Actually, I know I’m ready for it.”

Brady still has a lot to offer, and the Patriots are more than happy to have him on the field. The quarterback helped the team win six Super Bowls, and they are off to winning the seventh Lombardi Trophy. The Patriots nation can’t wait for that to happen.
