Tom Brady Gets Another Offensive Weapons As Patriots Keep Making Post-Deadline Additions

The New England Patriots added another veteran free agent to their offensive line.

The team agreed to sign a deal with wide receiver Dontrelle Inman. He will join the Patriots after spending the 2018 season in Indianapolis. Inman was able to catch 28 passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns in nine games.

This was a really busy week for New England. The Patriots used the second wave of free agency really wisely. The official start was on May 7, and Belichick used the deadline. Any free agent player signed after this deadline won’t count against the NBA’s compensatory pick formula.

Head coach Bill Belichick was really aware of the May 7 deadline. This week was huge for the Patriots. Since the deadline passed, the team has signed three players. Offensive tackle Jared Veldheer, tight end Benamin Watson and Inman earned a deal with the Patriots.

The Patriots also signed Maurice Harris and Demaryius Thomas. N’Keal Harry is the other new receiver in Foxboro. He was the Patriots first-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. These four will join a receiving squad that includes Julian Edelman and Phillip Dorsett.

“He’s been a productive player,” Director of Player Personnel Nick Caserio said of N’Keal Harry. “He has some physical attributes that are important to that position. There’s some other good players that are up there, as well, so we just thought this was the player that made the most sense for us at the time.

“Yeah, he’s a strong guy. He’s hard to tackle. He actually has a little bit of ability to just make people miss. It’s one of the things that he’s been productive doing. You get the ball in his hands and he’s been able to make some yards. We’ll see if that translates over to us here when we get him.”

Inman may not bring big numbers in New England, but he will sure manage to carve out a role for himself. He started his career with the Chargers before they traded him to Chicago midway through the 2017 season. Inman spent a year in Indianapolis before signing a deal with the Patriots.

His greatest season came in 2016. He caught 58 passes for 810 yards and four scores.
