Kyrie Irving Has Reportedly Talked About Possibly Signing With Lakers

Kyrie Irving left LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017 because he wanted to lead his own team. He didn’t want to play in the shadow of LeBron. However, his idea didn’t turn well, and Irving got hurt about a year ago. His new team, the Boston Celtics, is smashed by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the playoffs this year.

Irving will become an unrestricted free agent for the very first time in his professional career, and Brian Windhorst believes that he will join LeBron James in Los Angeles.

“As time passes here, I would’ve said that this is impossible for many months. But as time passes here and as the possibility exists that Jason Kidd could be hired as the Lakers coach, I think the possibility of Kyrie and LeBron reuniting — that door, which was deadbolted, has been un-deadbolted and has now been cracked open … It might even be opening more by the day. And I say that just because I think it’s on Kyrie’s radar, it’s on Kyrie’s board. He has had discussions with people about playing for the Lakers.”

Irving apologized for his behavior in Cleveland, and called LeBron to talk about it. This was a big move for the Celtics star, and the pre-game hug they shared is definitely a good sign. Well, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Irving will sign with the Lakers. If Irving doesn’t sign with LeBron, it won’t be because he runs away from LeBron.

Sources reveal that Irving may sign with the New York Knicks this offseason. The Lakers aren’t favorites for superstar free agents, but LeBron James may be a good reason to ink a deal. We all know that LeBron will probably convince someone to sign with his team.

Los Angeles will benefit from Irving’s departure in every aspect. If he signs a deal with the New York Knicks, the Celtics won’t be able to get Anthony Davis.

Irving will have to do a lot of thinking until July. Many teams will change their roster. The Lakers may not be on a good way to ink an All- Star, but they are trying.
