Watch: Tedy Bruschi Fights Against Brain Cancer With Epic Challenge

In the wake of the Brain Cancer Awareness Month, a new social media challenge that supports the goal of the Willie Strong Foundation surfaced amongst the celebrities.

The mission of the Foundation, named after 12-year old, Willie Hughes, is to find treatments for pediatric glioblastoma and other aggressive pediatric brain tumors through research, clinical trials and other new therapies at Children’s National.

Our immediate goal is to raise $2 million dollars to create an endowment to establish the William Seamus Hughes Professorship in Neuro-oncology and Immunology at Children’s National. It will be the first endowed chair at Children’s National to focus exclusively on these two areas, yielding lifesaving results. This Professorship will guarantee that Will’s fighting spirit lives on in the promise to other families devastated by brain tumors and ensure that every child has the very best chance for a cure.”

People are sharing videos on social media of themselves cracking eggs over their heads and nominating friends to do the same, using the hashtag #crackcancer. In addition to asking your friends to repeat the challenge, it involves making a donation to the Children’s National Health System.

Among the celebrities who joined the challenge is the former NFL player Ted Bruschi.

The three-time Super Bowl champion, who most of his career had spent with The New England Patriots, got in on the action with his own Instagram video. With the help of his two sons the former NFL player gladly did the challenge.

The 45-years-old Bruschi was nominated by the former Patriots linebacker Willie McGinest. Bruschi nominated retired New England Patriots cornerback Ty Law and 24-years old Patriots defensive end Chase Winovich to join the challenge. He also asked his ESPN’s colleague Adam Schefter to join the challenge.

After he suffered a stroke at the age of 31, Bruschi founded Tedy’s Team, an organization that supports stroke and heart disease survivors, and their families.

Other NFL players also made contributions to the Brain Cancer Awareness Month. The New York Giants’ stars in Saquon Barkley, Eli Manning and Sterling Shepard took part, nominating all Giants fans.
