Julian Edelman Sends Farewell Message To Ex-Teammate After Announcing Retirement

Chris Long and Julian Edelman played on the same team for one season, but they sure have a strong relationship. Long made a retirement decision after 11 NFL seasons. He is now a two-time Super Bowl champion, and his first title came with the New England Patriots in 2016.

“Cheers. Been a hell of a journey,” Long wrote on Twitter. “Eleven years and I can honestly say I put my soul into every minute of it. Highs and lows. I’ve seen them both and I appreciate the perspective. Gratitude and love to those who lifted me up.”

Patriots receiver Julian Edelman shared a very special message for his former teammate, and it was full of emotions.

“Going to miss this guy being in the league,” the Patriots receiver wrote on Instagram. “He was Great teammate, and even better example of how to be a pro. His ability to be involved with the community is second to none. The father he is and family man he is everything! He made the game more fun. All this said, still my second favorite Long. Love ya bubs and congrats on an amazing career!”

Long spent a year in Foxboro, but he knows how things work on the field. He knows all the details about the GOAT and his relationship with head coach Bill Belichick. Long was in the first row.

“I just think any NFL team, any NFL locker room under a lot of stress over a year period — there are going to be storylines people can choose to kind of blow out of proportion or not pay attention to,” Long said in one of his interviews. “One year, one of the hallmark franchises in the sports world — I think everyone’s going to pay attention to sometimes really small issues. Whatever people are alluding to going on up there hasn’t affected their play, it hasn’t affected their bottom line. It hasn’t affected how they executed on Sundays. That’s what they pride themselves in. When you’ve got the greatest quarterback of all time and possibly the greatest coach of all time, that’s why they’re in those big games.”
