Anthony Davis And David Griffin Will Meet In Los Angeles

Anthony Davis shocked the NBA with his trade request before the 2018-19 trade deadline. The Los Angeles Lakers were interested in getting Davis, and he expressed his desire to play alongside LeBron James. So, the team offered almost the entire young core, some draft picks, and a salary cap relief for the Pelicans star player.

Former president of basketball operations Magic Johnson didn’t like how New Orleans handled the trade negotiations, and stepped back from the process. However, the rumors plagued the team, and the whole situation got worse. LeBron James was hurt, and the young players couldn’t handle the pressure. The Lakers missed the playoffs again. Magic Johnson announced his decision to resign from his position and the team fired Luke Walton.

Then came the negotiations with Tyronn Lue and the possibility that LeBron James leaves the team. None of these happened, and LeBron missed the rumors. Tyronn Lue wasn’t happy with the offer he was given, and the team hired Frank Vogel as their new head coach.

Davis’ next move came like a surprise to everyone, and people started talking. He will meet with Pelicans executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin in Los Angeles to talk about his future plans.

Fletcher Mackel was the first to report the big news.

“-David Griffin & Anthony Davis will meet in LA in 2 weeks.
-Gayle Benson & Jrue Holiday may join Griff at meeting.
@PelicansNBA want AD to stay in NOLA.
-Right now, no change for Davis, no indication he/Klutch Sports wavering, trade request stands.”

Some rumors within the Pelicans organization admitted the Lakers had a good offer for him. The Pelicans weren’t interested in trading Davis to the Lakers, and Griffin’s arrival may change the way they view things regarding the 2019 NBA Draft.

At the introductory press conference, Griffin said he will try to convince the star player to stay for the upcoming season. He also said that Davis has to be fully committed to the Pelicans.

Davis may give the Lakers a good chance to sign a second All-Star player. We have a few questions regarding the rumors and Davis’ future.
