Ex-Patriots Quarterback Makes Bold Revelation About Bill Belichick

Have you ever noticed how Patriots handle media members? These guys are good in winning Super Bowls, but they are even better in their way of handling media. Patriots players don’t really reveal much during press conferences, and it seems like there’s a good explanation for this attitude. Bill Belichick.

During an interview on “The Rich Eisen Show,” former Patriots quarterback Doug Flutie talked about the boring interviews Patriots have. The “Patriot Way” includes boredom and players try to be as vague as possible with media members. Talking too much increases the risk of spilling out some of the team’s secrets. Belichick has seen players in other teams talk a lot, and he doesn’t approve that. His coaching staff scours the internet for player quotes during the days leading up to an important game.

“The thing that amazed me was the amount of information Bill would take in early in the week to prepare his game plan,” Flutie said. “He has people reading every article, every comment that comes from an opposing locker room gets read, filtered through. The amount of information that you can pick up from all the interviews the other players are doing and things they say about a game plan — they don’t mean to be telling it — but there is a lot of information that is given away.”

Belichick tells everybody to reveal a bare minimum during press conferences. That’s why you get those boring interviews.

“That’s why Bill Belichick is the most boring interview in the country,” Flutie added. “Bill is not going to give you one thing. He’s going to get on top of his guys not to say a word: Be generic, be bland, don’t give away information, because there is a ton of information given away.”

So, the Patriots use the information other teams spill to build their game plan.

“It amazed me, because in their scouting reports and in their game plans how detailed they could be and how right on they could be because of information that came out of a press conference,” the former Patriots quarterback said.

That’s a nice method, Coach!
