Julian Edelman Finally Receives College Degree

Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was named the Super Bowl MVP. Edelman is really successful in the world of football, despite the fact that 2018 was a tough year for him. But, he became a father, and went through his suspension with the support of his current and former teammates. He was working out with Danny Amendola, and quarterback Tom Brady was right by his side. We bet they support him in the effort to graduate.

Edelman decided to return to Kent State on Saturday for a really good reason.

“I believe it is important to finish what you start,” the wide receiver wrote on Instagram Thursday. “This Saturday, I will be walking with my fellow Kent State graduates. Completing what I started back in 06. It is important to me that I make my parents proud as I fulfill a promise that I made to them that I would, one day, be a college graduate. I also want to set a great example for my daughter, so that when I talk about the importance of a college degree, I can show her that earning my degree was important to me. To my fellow Golden Flash graduates, Congratulations!”

Edelman spent a year at the College of San Mateo before jumping to Kent State in Ohio. He was given a role of starting quarterback for three seasons, but didn’t finish his degree.

New England drafted the receiver with the 232^nd overall pick int he 2009 NFL Draft, so he put his studies on hold. However, Edelman earned a Bachelor of Integrative Studies degree as confirmed by the university.

“It is important to me that I make my parents proud as I fulfill a promise that I made to them that I would, one day, be a college graduate,” Edelman said. “I also want to set a great example for my daughter, so that when I talk about the importance of a college degree, I can show her that earning my degree was important to me.”

Edelman is a proud member of Golden Flash Family and also a member of the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame. We’ve seen him wear the bright yellow “Kent State Football” T-shirt during practices.
