Kevin Durant: Warriors Head Coach Sends Devastating Injury Update For NBA Finals

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr led the players in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, and Kevin Durant was ruled out for the match. The Golden State won several games without the star player, but it seems like they do need his help as the team lost the game to the Toronto Raptors.

Durant is the best player in the team, and he hasn’t completed a full practice with the Warriors since the calf strain he suffered in Game 5 against the Houston Rockets. The Warriors need Durant to win these games, and he traveled the team for the opening two games of the NBA Finals.

Will he return for Game 2? There’s almost zero chance that he does that. The head coach doesn’t even know when will Durant return.

“He was on the court yesterday and I believe he was on the court this morning as well,” Kerr said. “He’s in the training room, getting all kinds of treatment. The next step would be to practice with the team but we don’t know when that’s going to be. He’ll continue with the individual workouts, ramping that up as our training staff sees fit.

“If he’s out there, he’s pretty good, but if he’s not out there, we play with the guys we have and we have got enough. We have won the last, whatever, six games without him, five, six games. So we have enough, but you play with the guys who are healthy and you go. So we’ll see what happens.”

Stephen Curry knows the real value of Durant and his role on the floor.

“KD’s an all-time great player on both ends of the floor, so I could sit here and talk for days about what he adds to our roster,” he said. “We obviously have proven that when he’s out, we can have guys step up and that’s going to be the case until he gets back.”

Steph Curry thinks Warriors learned a lot about Raptors in Game 1

The Warriors hadn’t lost a Game 1 in the NBA Finals under Steve Kerr until Thursday but feel they know where improvements can be made.
