Lakers Sent Devastating Anthony Davis Update From Pelicans Owner

The New Orleans Pelicans may lose their star player, and several sources have reported that he is interested in joining LeBron James in Los Angeles. However, Pelicans owner Gayle Benson has something else to say.

The Anthony Davis saga triggered a chaos in the Lakers front office. Magic Johnson and Jeanie Buss were willing to offer the young core for Davis, but the Pelicans didn’t accept it. The negotiations were shut down, and Magic Johnson resigned from his position.

The Pelicans won the No.1 pick in the NBA Draft Lottery, and they may even convince Davis to stay on the team.

The Los Angeles Lakers have more hope regarding the deal. They won the fourth pick in the NBA Draft lottery. David Griffin said he plans to convince Davis to stay in New Orleans. Davis hasn’t changed his mind and the Lakers will have to compete with other teams to get him.

The sad part comes when you realize that they may not even give the Lakers a chance to negotiate.

MacMullan reported that Pelicans owner made it clear that she won’t trade Davis to the Lakers.

“We have been told, I think, through channels – most of us have heard this same scuttlebutt – that Gayle Benson has basically told [new general manager David Griffin], ‘To the Lakers, over my dead body,’” she said on The Hoop Collective podcast.

Chris Hayness still believes that the Lakers may create a nice offer for the Pelicans.

“That’s going to be a top pick,” he said on Yahoo Sports’ The Spin. “This draft has the potential to be one of the deepest drafts since the 2003 draft with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Carmelo came out. Any time you talk about assets, that you should give you a little sign that: ‘this is a pick that we don’t plan on keeping.’ You look at what the Lakers are doing right now with the youth movement and LeBron James, you don’t want to stay in a youth movement situation for too much longer.

What will happen next? How will things end for the Lakers?
