Look: Ty Lue Celebrates Birthday With Lakers Themed Cake

Ty Lue hasn’t signed a deal for the head coach position in Los Angeles, but he celebrated his birthday with a Lakers-themed cake. Is there something we should know?

The Los Angeles Lakers are a step closer towards hiring Lue as a head coach. The former Cavaliers coach celebrated his birthday in the best way possible, and he was presented with a nice cake. The private party was attended by his close friends and family.

Let’s go back to the cake. It had an enormous Lakers logo and a message reading, “Happy Birthday, Coach.” Lue celebrated his 42nd birthday on Friday.

This doesn’t come as a confirmation or anything, but we can’t just ignore the fact that Lue is almost hired.

The celebration was organized in Las Vegas, and that’s where Lue lives at the moment. The Los Angeles Times reveals that Lue was expected to attend the boxing match of Canelo Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs on Saturday night. Lakers star LeBron James was also expected to attend it.

There’s a growing number of sources reporting that the Lakers and Lue were advancing towards an agreement. They are yet to complete the deal. Lue is a top target at the moment after Philadelphia 76ers assistant Monty Williams took the head coach position with the Phoenix Suns.

Lue played for the Los Angeles Lakers from 1998-2001, and was used as a backup point guard. He put an end to his playing career in 2009, and became a coach. Lue was first assistant, and became a head coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers in January 2016. His greatest success came when the Cavalies won the NBA championship that year. The Cavaliers fired Lue six games into the 2018 season, and there were several rumors related to this move. But, both sides made statements that proved the opposite. There are no hard feelings.

Lue has a real chance to replace Walton, and LeBron likes him a lot. They have a nice relationship, and LeBron is all-in when it comes to hiring Lue. He didn’t say anything, but pretty much everyone was convinced that LeBron would choose Lue over Monty Williams.
