Report: Patriots Named As Possible Landing Spot For Veteran Receiver

The New England Patriots have built a nice roster for the upcoming 2019 season, and there are a few changes away from the training camp in July. The Patriots selected a great group of players, and the organization may add another veteran receiver to the roster.

The NFL Draft turned out really well, and NFL analyst believe that the Patriots made the best selection when compared to other teams. Their roster is pretty much packed, but they still may need another tight end and wide receiver. Rob Gronkowski decided to put an end to his professional career and announced his decision to retire. So, Bill Belichick and the rest of the organization have to think of another winning formula that doesn’t involve Gronk.

There are several players they may sign in the next few weeks, and veteran receiver Michael Crabtree is one of them.

The 31-year-old receiver is the best wide receiver still available. The Patriots may make a call in case he stays available in the next few weeks. Last season was a good lesson and example of how you can never be too sure about the number of receivers joining the training camp. There are a still a lot of uncertainties at this position for the team despite the fact that they have already signed a few players to fill the void Gronk left. In his 16 games with the Ravens last season, Crabtree had 54 receptions for 607 yards and three touchdowns.

Crabtree played his collegiate football at Texas Tech, and he was originally selected by the San Francisco 49ers with the 10th overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft.

The receiver needed four years to record a 1,000-yard season, and he did that just once during his six years with the 49ers. Crabtree joined the Oakland Raiders and spent three years with the team. His best season was in 2016 as Crabtree caught 89 passes for 1,003 yards and eight scores. The Dallas native signed a three-year contract with the Ravens last March, but lasted just one season with the team. It was his least productive season since 2014, and Crabtree played in just five games due to an injury.
