Rich Eisen Releases Bold Statement About Tom Brady Not Being The Highest Paid NFL Player

Tom Brady is the best quarterback in the entire history, but he isn’t the highest-paid QB. What does Rich Eisen think about this?

Eisen spoke on The Rich Eisen Show, and he was really focused on Brady and his contract.

“It is absurd that he isn’t the highest paid player in the National Football League,” Eisen said. “When Russell Wilson had that contract extension, what’d I say? ‘Who should be the highest paid player in the NFL?’ Tom Brady.” 

“The Patriots remove the oxygen from a story that normally sets another franchise aflame. [They] put the velvet ropes around a story and say you can’t cross into that very important area. Tom Brady on the last year of a deal. What if he wins another Super Bowl? What if he gets his seventh? Which is entirely possible. I’ll repeat it from the other day, the running back core that’s behind him, the offense that (Josh) McDaniels has mastered on behalf of Brady and Belichick and the team. You know they are going to get some production out of somebody we’re not even seeing at the wide receiver or even tight end position. If not, then they’ll figure out a way to do it. Tom’s not going to get touched very often. He’s going to get the ball out of his hand real fast. Neck up he’s as great as they come and the running game will keep him afloat. James White has been with the Patriots six years, he has three rings. Sony Michel, we can go on and on and on. 

“What if he wins a seventh? What happens then? Are they going to take care of him before the season? At this point, Brian Hoyer’s not ready to take over next year and Stidham won’t be ready for another two or three. (Brady’s) the option at age 43 and at age 44 for this team. That’s what you’re looking at right now.”

During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Brady talked about his contract, but didn’t reveal much.

“That’s a good question. That’s usually, when I don’t want to answer a question, I always say, ‘That’s a good question,'” Brady told Kimmel. “I think the thing I’ve always felt for me in my life, winning has always been a priority. And my wife makes a lot of money.”

He added: “I’m a little smarter than you think. Actually, it’s a salary cap. You can only spend so much and the more that one guy gets is less for others. I think for a competitive advantage standpoint, I like to get a lot of good players around me.”
