Warriors’ Kerr Updates Status Of Durant, Thompson And Iguodala

The Golden State Warriors are plagued with injuries, and head coach Steve Kerr provided an update on the condition of his top players.

Kevin Durant won’t join his team in Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Kerr confirmed that Durant won’t play against the Toronto Raptors Wednesday as he still recovers from the calf strain he earned in the game against the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference semifinals.

Kevin won’t play tomorrow,” Kerr said. “But he’s ramping up his exercise routine, his workouts.”

Klay Thompson is ruled questionable for the game as he suffered a mild hamstring strain in Game 2. Andre Iguodala wil play in Game 3. Kevon Looney has a fractured collarbone, and he won’t play until the end of the season.

“Klay said he’ll be fine, but Klay could be half dead and he would say he would be fine,” Kerr said a couple of days ago. “We’ll see. He pulled his hamstring. He thinks it is minor, so I don’t know what that means going forward.”

“I caught up with Klay Thompson on the way out of the arena,” Mark Medina tweeted.” Klay about his hamstring: ‘I’m good. It’s just tight.’ Does Klay think he’ll play in Game 3? Klay: ‘Honestly, it’s hard to say. Thank God we got a couple of days off. But I think I’ll be good to go.’”

If you ask Thompson, he is all-in when it comes to playing.

”It will be a game-time decision. But for me personally, it would be hard to see me not playing. Hopefully, I’ll feel much better tomorrow and be a go for tipoff,” Thompson said.

When it comes to Looney, the season is over.

”He’s had such a great season, such a great postseason run,” coach Kerr said. ”Fortunately it won’t affect his future, but it’s a big loss for us.”

Will Thompson and Durant leave the Warriors this summer?

“’The season is still ongoing,’ Lacob said in a recent interview when asked about Thompson’s future with the team. ‘We are not finished. I have no new ideas or data for you. We love Klay and KD and intend to attempt to re-sign them. Period. I am confident about BOTH of them.’”
