Kevin Durant Breaks Silence On Achilles Injury As Free Agency Takes Twist

Kevin Durant suffered an Achilles injury in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The Warriors player admitted he was “hurting deep” after suffering his injury just 12 minutes into his return to the floor.

The Warriors star did his best to score points for his team. He scored 11 points in his 12 minutes on the flied. Durant suffered a calf strain in the semi-finals, and wanted to return to the floor to help his team win the games.

The Warriors managed to win the game against the Toronto Raptors and brought the series back to 3-2.

After the injury, Durant took to Instagram to share his side of the story.

“Dub nation gonna be loud as f**k for game 6,” he wrote. “I’m hurting deep in the soul right now I can’t lie but seeing my brothers get this win was like taking a shot of tequila, I got new life lol. #dubs”

The Golden State won the game with 106-105. Unfortunately, they will have to proceed without the star player. Durant won’t come back. He will have to have a surgery before the rehab. Durant will become free agent on July 1, and the New York Knicks are considered an option.

NBA analyst Tommy Beer explained one of the scenarios.

“Durant does have a $31.5 million player option for next season. If this is the worst-case scenario, KD may choose to exercise that option and enter free agency in 2020. Way more questions than answers right now. Just a brutal blow for KD, who risked his prime to help his team.”

Durant will have enough time to recover and think about the critism he faced.

“It’s been that way since I got here, that it’s the Warriors and KD. I understand that. And I feel like my teammates and the organization know exactly what I’ve done – on and off the court – to become a part of this culture. I know what I bring to the team,’ he added. “But I also know a lot of people from the outside don’t like to see us together. I get it.

“It’s hard to get away from that because I watch the games and watch the lead-up to the games and that’s all everybody is talking about. From my perspective, I want to focus on rehab, but I also want to be a fan of my teammates. I want to enjoy my teammates from a different view.”
