Anonymous NBA Exec Would Offer ‘So F–king Skilled’ Kevin Durant a Max Contract

Warriors star Kevin Durant may have a ruptured Achilles, but he deserves a max contract. That’s what NBA execs say.

“I think it’s a no-brainer,” an NBA executive told Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic. “It’d be one thing if he wasn’t skilled like he is. He’s one of the most skilled guys in the NBA… The guy is so f–king skilled, even if he loses a step he’ll be fine.”

“The NBA Finals are over, and this is the time to say that the Knicks’ real season has begun,” Vorkunov wrote. “That, however, would be disingenuous. The Knicks have been putting in work to get ready for this offseason, this free agency period for a while. The last five days, though, have been a blur as two stars have gone down in successive games with major injuries.

“The question now is what it means for this summer. Both Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson will be free agents. Durant has been a target for months, but had surgery this week on his torn right Achilles. That leaves the Knicks with an interesting question: Should they still go hard after Durant?”

Things got worse when Durant returned from his calf injury and injured his Achilles after 12 minutes. He will probably miss the next season. Dominique Wilkins is the only high-profile star to return to his original game after suffering a serious injury. He ruptured his Achilles at 32 and made two more All-Star teams after returning to the floor. Rudy Gay came back in a brilliant shape.

“No question about it,” Wilkins told Vorkunov of whether the Warriors star may return at the same level of performance. “There’s so much more advantages now for guys to get back. The medicine now vs. the medicine when I was playing is totally different. We had to work that much harder back then.”

We will have to wait and see what happens next this summer. Things are getting really hot these days, and the free agency period will change everything. Will the Golden State Warriors offer Durant a max contract? He deserves that.
