Kyrie Irving To Lakers: LeBron James Insider Drops Huge Hint After Anthony Davis Trade

Kyrie Irving is set to become free agent this summer and the Brooklyn Nets were considered favorites until yesterday. The Los Angeles Lakers reached a trade deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, and signed Anthony Davis. This changes everything, and the Lakers have a good chance of signing Irving.

That’s what David Aldridge from The Athletic explained in his piece. According to him, Irving is a huge possibility for the Lakers, and the information was cofirmed by sources close to LeBron James.

The Lakers got out of the playoff race too early, and the players struggled to score without their star player. LeBron was out of the floor for 17 games due to an injury, and many of his other teammates were injured, too. The Lakers lost the chance to sign Davis before, but their second attempt was successful.

Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart were traded away, meaning the Lakers will need a guard. Will the Lakers have enough cap space for a max salary player now?

If the trade gets through on July 6, and Davis doesn’t waive his trade bonus, Los Angeles will have $23.7 million in cap space. If Davis waives his trade bonus and the deal is delayed until July 30, the cap space will reach $32.5 million.

“Now, with the Lakers still capable of creating enough cap room for another max-salary player in time for the start of free agency on June 30, there’s a very real possibility that one of the many available top-tier talents could decide to join them and form the kind of superstar trio that LeBron was accustomed to both in Miami and Cleveland,” Aldridge wrote.

“Could it be Kyrie Irving, whose frustration with the Celtics experience has been well chronicled and who has been tied to the Brooklyn Nets in recent days?

“It certainly matters that the two former Cavs co-stars reconciled back in January, when our Joe Vardon detailed the apology phone call heard ‘round the basketball world.

“What’s more, it was also clear back then that James was open to the possibility of a reunion.

“Just days before the Davis deal was done, a source close to James indicated some optimism that – Nets noise be darned – Irving was still in play for the Lakers.”
