Steph Curry’s Mother Tells Bombshell Revelation About What Made Her Son ‘Who He Is’

Steph Curry is one of the greatest basketball players at the moment, but his road to fame wasn’t always smooth. The Warriors star has faced more adversity than other players to get here. Curry’s mother, Sonya, revealed the trigger that brought Curry this far.

In episode one of “Stephen Vs The Game,” Sonya explains how a single shot changed everything. Curry missed the winning shot, and that was the main trigger.

“He was nine years old playing in a 10-and-under age, and they were down by one,” Sonya said. “[They] threw him the ball, and he could have won it, and he missed the shot. Broke our hearts.”

How did Dell accept this? It seems like he had some harsh words for the nine-year-old Curry.

“Dell said: ‘You didn’t like that feeling did you,'” Sonya said. “He [Steph] was like, ‘No.’ So he [Dell] said: ‘Now you know what to do then.'”

Sonya explained that Dell used some harsh words, but is well aware of the fact that this shot actualy “made him who he is.”

Stephen Curry and his team lost the chance to win the title again. The Toronto Raptors were brilliant in the 2019 NBA Finals, and the Warriors were plagued with injuries. Too many key players left the game due to an injury, and the Raptors took advantage of that.

Will this add fuel to the fire? Curry handles all the criticism really well.

“I feel like for the last three years, everybody has taken their shots at trying to nitpick or break us down or drive a wedge in our team chemistry or our togetherness or whatever the case is,” he said. “And even this year, it’s been amplified even more with (Durant’s) free-agency stuff. Nobody can say anything without it getting scrutinized or criticized. Nobody can be happy when people are playing well. That’s the part, to me, that’s most surprising. If it’s KD playing well, it’s ‘Oh, they’re playing a different style and it’s not as fun to watch.’ Or when he’s out and we’re winning games, ‘Are we better or more fun,’ whatever the question is, you hear it all the time.”
