Nick Caserio Reportedly Wants Out Of New England

The New England Patriots are dealing with a big problem at the moment. It’s Nick Caserio.

Caserio will be part of the Patriots organization next season, but he may go somewhere else after the regular season as reported by Ben Volin of The Boston Globe.

Caserio has a year left on his contract with New England which expands though the 2020 NFL Draft. Volin wrote that the Patriots won’t like Caserio around only to leave the organization after making the picks. The Houston Texans will probably get Caserio. The Texans have already did an effort to get Caserio. The organization even fired general manager Brian Gaine. The Patriots filed tampering charges against the Texans and invoked a clause in Caserio’s contract with the team. They have already done this.

Things got really hot after the Texans fired Gaine the day after the Patriots’ Super Bowl LIII ring ceremony. Former Patriots character coach and current Texans exec Jack Easterby attended the ceremony. This just added fuel to the fire.

“When we started the process to interview Nick Caserio for our EVP/GM position, we consulted the League office on numerous occasions, followed the procedures outlines in the League’s rules and believed we were in full compliance,” the statement from Texans chairman and CEO Cal McNair read. “We have now been made aware of certain terms in Nick’s contract with the Patriots. Once we were made aware of these contract terms, I informed Mr. Kraft that we would stop pursuing Nick.”

Adam Schefter confirmed that the Texans are off the race.

Texans are dropping their pursuit of Patriots’ director of player personnel Nick Caserio, as @McClain_on_NFL reported. Patriots are dropping their tampering charges against the Texans. Caserio remains in New England; Texans GM opening remains.”

“With Houston dropping its pursuit of Nick Caserio, there now is a scenario under which the Texans will go this season without an official General Manager. For less than a year, Bill O’Brien, Jack Easterby and the scouting dept could divvy up the duties.”

Robert Kraft responded to that statement from McNair saying, “The Houston Texans and the New England Patriots have always had a great woking relationship. We appreciate the way Cal McNair has handled this situation.”
