LeBron James and the Cavaliers Made History 3 Years Ago Today in NBA Finals Against Warriors (VIDEO)

The Golden State Warriors were dominant on the floor for too many years. However, the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Warriors. This squad is the only team to return from a 3-1 nightmare in an NBA Finals. The magnificent comeback was crowned with an amazing Game 7 win at Oracle Arena.

It was a game worth watching. Thrilling, shocking and surprising. Most experts agree that this was the greatest Finals triumph in league history.

If you ask LeBron, this championship made him the greatest of all time.

“That one right there made me the greatest player of all time,” LeBron said in an episode of ESPN’s “More Than An Athlete Series. “That’s what I felt. I was super, super ecstatic to win one for Cleveland because of the 52-year (championship) drought. And then after I stopped (celebrating), I was like, that one right there made you the greatest player of all time. Everybody was talking how they were the greatest team ever assembled, and for us to come back the way we came back, I was like, you did something special.

“That was one of the only times in my career I felt like, you did something special. I haven’t had much time to sit back and think (about my achievements). But that was a moment.”

The Cavaliers couldn’t recover after LeBron’s departure. The team struggled a lot.

“I don’t like what they’re doing. I would have done the full rebuild. Indiana got lucky. Cleveland needs to build through the draft for the next two to three years, bite the bullet and go from there. Even with the roster that they have now, they’ll probably still get a top-10 pick, maybe a top-five. I don’t see Cleveland being very good. I would have gutted.

“There’s about seven guaranteed playoff teams already. Are they going to be better than Brooklyn and Atlanta? Yeah. Probably New York. Are they going to be better than Charlotte and Orlando? I don’t know. I don’t see [Cleveland] in the top eight. The only way they can get better is gut it and start over again. It’s not an attractive place for a free agent.”
