Ice Cube On LeBron: There’s One Thing He Has To Do

Some Lakers fans aren’t buying the story according to which LeBron James is better than Kobe Bryant. Others say he will never be as good as Magic Johnson. Well, let’s just wait and see what happens next. LeBron joined the Los Angeles Lakers to win a title, but his debut season was a complete failure. It wasn’t his fault. He couldn’t do it by himself, and the team wasn’t ready for a championship. What does Ice Cube say about this?

“He gotta bring a chip,” Ice Cube said in studio on Tiki & Tierney. “Bring a chip. That’s one thing he gotta do. He’s not going to be Elgin Baylor, who just spent years doing great numbers and being a Laker for a long, long time.”

Baylor played in Los Angeles from 1958 to 1971. He was an 11-time All-Star, a 10-time All-NBA first-teamer, and played in eight NBA Finals. However, he never won a title.

“(LeBron) has three years – or more if he wants to play more for the Lakers – to bring a chip, and he won’t have any problems,” Ice Cube said. “He won’t have any issues. It’s the standard out there if you want to be beloved forever and ever and ever. But we love all of our Lakers. All of our ex-Lakers, we give love. Samaki Walker could come back and get a little love.”

Walker played with the Lakers for two years, and won the championship in 2002.

“If you wear the purple and gold, we’re going to have a little affection for you, even if it was for one year or half a year,” Ice Cube said. “But if you win the chip, then you get a star on the Walk of Fame.”

Anthony Davis joined LeBron, and they create the perfect duo on the floor. Will the Lakers nation prefer Davis over LeBron?

“I think they equally get their share of love,” Ice Cube said. “But it’s really going to be LeBron. LeBron is the anchor.”

Things are getting really interesting in Los Angeles. One thing stands for sure, the team will grow bigger next season.
