Julian Edelman Give His Take On Gronkowski’s Possible Return

Rob Gronkowski shocked the Patriots nation with his decision to retire. Nobody thought that Gronk would leave the organisation after winning the Super Bowl.

Julian Edelman appeared on WFAN’s Boomer and Gio program to promote his Showtime documentary. Gronkowski announced his decision to retire from the league from the NFL this offseason. When asked about Gronk’s potential comeback, Edelman said he didn’t think the tight end would unretire to join the team. However, he didn’t rule out the return.

“I don’t know. I don’t think so, but who knows?” Edelman said. “My guy, he’s full of surprises, but if he does (return), that’d be awesome. If he doesn’t, I understand. He’s played an unbelievable career, and I’m excited for him and his next chapter of life, whatever it is.”

There has been so much speculation regarding Gronk’s return. The tight end was pretty serious about his decision. However, Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman reported that Patriots don’t believe that Gronk’s career is over. Moreover, Gronk is expected to come back in 2019.

“What I can tell you is few people, including sources on the Patriots, believe that,” Freeman wrote in regard to Gronkowski repeatedly saying he will not return to the field. “The belief is that once the season gets going, and Gronkowski starts missing football, he will rejoin the team. It’s not just a hunch, sources say; you can count on it.”

The Patriots will be more than happy to welcome Gronk. The team needs a tight end at the moment. They had already cut Austin Seferian-Jenkins. Benjamin Watson won’t join the team in the first month of the regular season.

Edelman will sure miss his teammate.

“He was not just his athletic ability and what he does on the field, but how he is in the locker room,” he said. “I’ve played nine years with the guy, or 10 years, and to see him every day and how he was as a professional, he never really had a bad day. … When you play a long time with someone, you know him in and out, and he’s just such a good human being, great dude to be around, like a big old teddy bear.”
