LeBron Shares His Excitement About Space Jam 2; Steph Curry Confirms He’s Not In It

Space Jam 2 will be a huge project, and it’s definitely one of the most important pieces LeBron James has ever made. The Lakers star has the lead role, and he couldn’t hide his excitement about the filming.

“Man this really just hit me! I’m really shooting Space Jam 2!! This is so surreal and doesn’t even make sense to me! Where I come from man and what I saw growing up this doesn’t add up to me! I’m truly grateful and beyond blessed. This is CRAZINESS.”

Damian Lillard, Anthony Davis and Klay Thomspon will join LeBron on set. WNBA stars Diana Taurasi, Nneka Ogwumike and Chiney Ogwumike will also get roles. Few other players will take part in the filming, but Stephen Curry is definitely out.

The Warriors confirmed that he won’t appear in Space Jam 2 due to scheduling conflicts.

Sopan Deb of The New York Times has all the details on Curry’s reasons to miss the filming.

“The next several months have much in store for Curry, a 31-year-old basketball savant who, after 10 seasons, is already thinking hard about life after basketball. No, he won’t be making a cameo in LeBron James’s production of “Space Jam 2” (he was asked but said no, citing scheduling issues), but he will probably field a call or two from former President Barack Obama (he said they are in contact about once a month).”

However, not everyone is happy for the filming.

The director of the original Space Jam, Joe Pytka, said the sequel is a bad idea.

“Don’t do it. It’s doomed. Michael Jordan was the biggest star on the planet.”

“When we did Space Jam, there was a perfect storm of players and ex-players available–Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing,” Pytka explained. “They all had a persona that complemented the film. There are none around like that now.”

According to him, Curry is a bigger name than LeBron at the moment. Space Jam 2 will come out in two years, and Pytka says that Curry’s dominance will extend even more.

Well, we believe that LeBron will make quite a show with the film.
