LeBron And The Lakers Reportedly Interested In Signing J.R. Smith

The Los Angeles Lakers will need another All-Star to give LeBron James a hand in the process of turning the team into contenders. Lakers owner Jeanie Buss and general manager Rob Pelinka brought Anthony Davis in Los Angeles, and they are a step closer to the final goal. It turns out that LeBron and the Lakers are interested in getting J.R. Smith.

It’s more than obvious that LeBron would love to surround himself with his old pals. He’s been doing that on every roster so far. But, he had a thing with Smith, and we can’t really forget the stare he delivered on the floor a year ago. However, Marc Stein and Chris Haynes believe that LeBron’s desire to get his former teammates on his current team is bigger than his desire to smash Smith.

“Keep an eye on J.R. Smith ultimately landing with the Lakers after the Cavaliers trade him — which Cleveland is trying to do as we speak,” Stein tweeted.

Watching the Lakers build their roster is always fun, and this year will be really important for them. Signing LeBron was a really big move, and it triggered an avalanche of reactions.

The team tried to get Anthony Davis but it didn’t work. Their second attempt was successful. The Lakers are now linked to several free agents, including Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson. Mentioning J.R. Smith is a rather bold claim.

Cleveland general manager Koby Altman made a statement on his player.

“We have a trade chip in J.R. Smith, and his contract, where we can take on some money that other teams are trying to get some cap relief from,” said Altman. “We are actually the only team in the NBA that can provide guaranteed cap relief until July 1. We can guarantee that right now and we actually had a phone call (Thursday) on that trade chip, so, we’re going to keep on being aggressive adding those assets because we do eventually want to consolidate and be really good at some point.”

This summer is really important for every NBA team. They will all try to get a big name on the roster. Who will join LeBron?
